The mountainous areas of Pakistan are regarded as the ultimate source of fresh water to the low lying population and settlements comprising of vast flood plains that feed the economy of country through its fertile soil production. The weather pattern of the Karakorum belt comprising of many valleys like Hunza valley has changed in the last few decades. the abrupt climate change has caused abrupt impacts on the overall seasons and life style of the mountainous community. Irregular extreme winter and summer seasons have been observed in the area affecting the glaciers melting and regional flora. The indigenous communities are not prepared to cope with the changing patterns resulting in increasing vulnerabilities to natural hazards leading to disasters in the whole region.
